Zhi is 13 years old and Shao is 11 years old. They have a 74-year-old grandfather. Life is not fair for these two children. Their mother suffered from a mental illness when they were young, and she would beat and curse them repeatedly. They grew up in fear and darkness, and without a mother to care for them. The whole family clasped. Entirety of the family's income had been used to pay for the mother's medical expenses, but she died three years ago. The boys' grandmother passed away one year ago as well. Their father had to go out to find work, leaving the grandfather and his two children at home. In August of 2012, the father took out a loan of 20,000 RMB. The house was shabby and worn-out, so he decided to use the money to rebuild the house. In September, the old house was destroyed. However, when they began to build the new house, the father got sick and was diagnosed with an advanced stage of leukemia. Whatever money remained was spent trying to cure him, but he died in November. Rainbow Village is a TFish Associate Member. Dear TFish Fund: Thank you so much for your generous support of Rainbow Village's Bright Future Project! 2012 has been a special year for Rainbow Village. This year, the public platform for our organization took shape. We became registered as a non-profit organization in China. Our name was changed to Cheng Du High-Tech Zone Rainbow Village Public Welfare Development Center, or Rainbow Village for short. Encouraged by your support, we've tried our best to become a transparent organization. In 2013, we hope to keep up our partnership and bring much-needed care to the children living in poverty. Once lunch time arrived, we went to the cafeteria with the principal. We immediately saw how happy the children here were after having visited Dahua Primary School of Dahua, Longkou Primary School of Funing, and Yansang Primary School. The children had 5 courses to choose from and could eat as much as they like. Thanks to the principal who constantly seeks support from donors, the children had more than enough for meals. We posed for a group photo with the principal before we left. We thank him for his efforts to serve these children with disabilities. As a result, they are able to spend their childhood happily, and we hope they will have a bright future. Location: Longkou Primary School of Funing, Yunnan Province Visit time: November 2, 201 When we began to see outlines of houses spread across the mountain, we realized we were finally nearing the Longkou Primary School. The school principal and teachers were waiting for us when we arrived. They prepared meals for us and also gave us an introduction to the teachers, students, and their parents. Some of the teachers are Zhuang ethnic minority who have been in the area for several years. They stayed to help Yao ethnic minority children living in the mountainous areas adapt to the outside world. Rainbow Village Help Center is a TFish Associate Member. We paired sizes according to children's feet because we had no lists of their shoes' number. There is one girl who had a pair of larger feet than the others, so we have to bring her new shoes next time. She can bring the pair we just gave her to her younger brother or sister.

Rainbow Village Help Center is an NGO established for the purpose of giving glasses to impoverished children. NGO Officer: Rainbow Village Help Center Person in charge: Cheng Quandi Date: 11/2/2012 Project of Bright Future At 9:10 in the morning, we head to the mountaintop, tired because we were sleepless last night. But we are freshened by the morning air. The rugged road is difficult for me and Wang Jun to head on and we sometimes use our hands. Along with us are the principal of Longmen Primary School and the little brother of Cheng Quandi. We three each bear a huge bag, and Cheng Quandi carries 20 pairs of shoes and three palettes and Wang Jun carries the cameras. And the road is too rugged to take pictures. The road is so steep that we’re desperate at the first sight. At 10:20, we reach Yangsang Primary School, thirsty and out of breath. Wang Jun and I are rosy red. And then we meet Mr. Pan. A friend informed me that a teacher of Shanyao nationality was going to the award ceremony for teachers on September 9th, and suggested that I could go with this teacher to Shanyao’s primary school and make some donations. After the ceremony that morning, teacher Pan, the Shanyao teacher, went to purchase some necessities for school, mostly for students’ nutria-meals. Teacher Pan told me that due to the rugged mountain roads and inconvenient transportation, it was very difficult to get out of their village. He has to go shopping during holidays and it always takes him a whole day for the trip. Teacher Pan was the only teacher in Yansang School. He told me that there was a DVD player at the school donated by an educational institute to aid his teaching, but now it is broken and cannot be repaired. He has to apply for a new one for the school. After the ceremony, we rushed through our lunch and hurried back to Shanyao village. Teacher Pan told us that the mountain road is very cliffy. We had to deposit part of the goods in Longmen village because it would be very difficult to climb the mountain with so many goods. Even still, we didn’t reach Pan’s home before dark, so Teacher Pan called his son to stand outside and wait for us with a flashlight.
